Are We Having Fun Yet?

So now I have a blog…Jeez, who knew there was so much pressure.  I have thought about it constantly and struggled with what to write, how to organize it, who will read it.  Oh and what freak’n pain in the butt the “service” is to use.  I have to honestly say I have not enjoyed the user experience, but am committed to figuring it out.  It really makes you wonder how all these people with limited computer skills are blogging.  Then you look at which services they are on and realize there is a large trade off in “easy” and a more elegant, visually pleasing and customizable blog.  The jury is out on which I would prefer this week.

So I did come to a few decisions about the whole blog experience so far:

-You worry about who will see it AND at least at first no one does

-You think about how great it will be and all the things you will write about AND then you sit there worrying about the prior point.

- You want to make enhancements AND you have to keep a window to wikipedia open the whole time to make it through the widgets, typelists, et all set up.

- You are still excited about getting it rolling!

So onward to having some fun, messing up, doing it in public and finding out what happens.

Quick Tip #1

How many times have you been given a quick brush by your loved pet just as you leave for the office or to an event or party, etc.  You did it, you almost escaped unscathed by a sticky hand or a yogurt splashed kiss from the kids, but the damn cat or dog got you.  Here's a quick and accessible tip for getting the hair, lint or anything else temporarily clinging to you off.

The miracle solution comes courtesy of FedEx.  Find a FedEx label pouch...Really.  It's perfect.  It's a pouch, so slide your hand in, take off the sticky side and got to it.  If you work or happen to be in or near an office you'll find them plentifully stacked near the copier or shipping area.  If you are on the go you are also well served.  FedEx has MULTIPLE drop box locations that have ample supplies of label pouches.  I have stopped my car on a corner, run into a FedEx Kinko's, dropped by the business center in numerous hotels and hit my own office supply.  This works for the random dust, sand or whatever it is that seems to come after you when you leave a park.

Oh and they are powerful.  They work way better than any lint brush, tape roll, etc.  Take care when wearing delicate fabrics.

My First Post

Well, today is the day.  I'm joining the masses of bloggers.  I have to admit, I did this as a bit of an experiment.  Having been involved in the Net since 1994, knowing crude HTML, run a bunch of Internet based business, written articles for web sites, publications and TV News...I had never blogged.  So here I am.  I guess thanks for having me in this open community of self expression, support and free speech.

So what will I write about?  I hope to bring to life the title I chose.  Mixed Bag.  I truly feel that life is a Mixed Bag of experiences, people, objects, goals, desires, needs and challenges.  My life includes, motherhood (daughter & Twin Boys), wife, friend, daughter, daughter in-law, executive, working mom, owner, traveler, former athlete (wish I could change that), supporter, philanthropist, and the list goes on on as it does for us all. 

Look for my entries to cover everything from family items, to business learnings, to fertility and multiples and general observations that either made me laugh, cry or question this crazy world.
